There are traditional folk songs, as well as songs to jump around to, like Sto Me O {CORR}, and others that inspire the imagination; such as The Princess.

“The CD ends with four songs for winding down which can be wonderful as lullabies,” said Ceilidh.

Ceilidh runs regular singing groups for young children at The Exchange on Stroud’s Brick Row, where an enthusiastic young audience has enjoyed her songs.

Since she started performing five years ago, she has developed growing recognition of her talents as a singer, performer and songwriter and recently supported Martha Tilston at Stroud’s Subscription Rooms.

A Land Very Close is to be launched at Star Anise Cafe in Stroud on Saturday.

Ceilidh will be joining Star Anise’ resident story-teller Jo Allen at 11am on Saturday, November 21 for a free children’s event which combines music from Ceilidh with a children’s tale.

A Land Very Close, priced £10 will be on sale at Kane’s Records, The Children’s Bookshop as well as Wynstone’s Christmas Market, Acorn School Christmas Market.

STROUD singer Ceilidh-Jo Rowe says whether she’s doing the school run or putting her daughter to bed, she’s always singing. So it was only natural that the latest musical offering from the popular singer is a collection of songs for children.

Ceilidh’s newest album, A Land Very Close is to be officially launched with a free children’s performance on Saturday in Star Anise Café. The CD features 14 magical songs performed by Ceilidh, accompanied by guitarist Matthias Weston.

Children, says Ceilidh, have a natural love of singing and listening to music and she has always sung to her own daughter, Rumi, now aged 8.

“Having a young child myself, I have always searched for songs and verses to sing - about now, the seasons and weather throughout the year,” she said.

A Land Very Close is an album of acoustic music, which is uplifting, engaging and stimulates young imaginations. There’s also a beautifully designed booklet of lyrics with every CD, featuring exquisite artwork by Stroud designer Mel Rodicq

“Singing encourages self-expression confidence and working together as a group,” explained Ceilidh, 28, who lives in the Slad Valley.

“We recorded the songs in a style suitable for all the family, keeping the percussion simple but with intricate, rhythmical guitar.”
